Haves and Have Nots Debate on Capitalism
By Lance Winslow

Eco Bags
I fully support the notion of reusing the same shopping bags for groceries. Week in and week out people fill up their supermarket trolleys and then proceed to pack the items they have bought into plastic bags at the checkout, once they have been paid for. The majority of these plastic bags only make two trips in their lifetime. One is to the supermarket from the suppliers and the other is to the customer`s home where they tend to end their life prematurely in the bin. If Eco Bags were used instead they could make hundreds of trips in their lifetime. The bags could be left ion the boot of the car after they have been unpacked ready to be used at the next grocery shop. All it takes is a little thought and a slight change of routine and the Eco Bags could become regular features down at the supermarket. Concerns about the effect that plastic bags have on the planet should be enough to prick the conscious of people`s minds. If more and more people started to use the Eco Bags when they went shopping, at least this would be one way that the planet could be looked after.

Some have said that the haves and have nots, disparity will lead to dissension, rebellion and death. And they point out that capitalism when introduced into an emerging nation state will accelerate such tension, thus bringing on revolution and rebellion, chaos and conflict. Where as there are certainly historical references, which might be used as evidence of such. I would like to point out that in fact humans will do that with or without capitalism, yes they are mostly harmless, yet we know that these victim seekers will rise up in dissension, it is human nature, I.E. it is innate.

In pointing out these facts those who debate such contention and chastise those who promote democracy thru capitalism will ask; ?Are you saying social rebellion and refreshing the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants is the result of envy and "victim" seekers??

Interesting how they put such notions forward, indeed refreshing the tree of liberty and getting rid of those you have conveniently labeled tyrants because they are among the haves, is dismissing the productivity that such folks have brought to a civilization. Those who will not help plant, grow, harvest and bake the bread should not be casting stones at those who have sacrificed to produce it. Furthermore the have nots, who ?have not? helped us in such efforts do not deserve to reserve the right to judge so prematurely and must look in the mirror for their current position and status in a society or civilization, as well as to their parents and grandparents efforts of the past.

So I am abstractly saying; "You cannot please everyone, so you have to please yourself" and that the "squeaky wheel gets the oil" while also saying no matter what you do, someone will label you unfit to lead in order to remove you from power so guess what? They can then lead? It is just humans being human. It is their way; it is so predictable it ought to be obvious. I cannot tell you all the good things I have done for others, only to have them complain, want more, call me a fraud all just to justify their petty vindictive, need to get more for their selves?

Is capitalism bad or the Globalization trends, which promote it? That is a stretch to claim capitalism is the cause of war, strife or civil unrest. It is not as if those African nations with nothing are not out warring with each other as they have for 1000?s of years. Mankind has done this throughout civilization and is still doing so today, with or without capitalism.

Capitalism helps people who put in and are productive, it rewards them, without going to kill their neighbor and taking their animals and women. In Capitalism those who produce are rewarded and with that income they can buy things so they do not have to live with their animals in order to survive and eat. This prevents the spread of disease from living with animals and assists the species no matter what society, from the jungles of the Amazon to the shores of NYC.

Capitalism in its pure form is not forced capitalism, economic enslavement or Patrone-ism. I have heard such comments before, yet, this is not the capitalism to which I speak. Those who argue that capitalism is evil are distorting what true pure capitalism really is.

If folks in those countries choose to procreate past the point of being able to feed those additional mouths and feel they have to work for their survival, well I guess that is better than getting eaten by a Saber-Toothed tiger? However I do agree with Gate`s and his 2001 Davos Speech on this. We all agree on the disparity in the world. But Capitalism in its pure form; that is invisible and lassie faire models is not forced and is a positive contribution to the have nots who will become the haves too. Personal responsibility is the key to having or not having and that is a choice in free societies and one of the underlining themes of Capitalism. If you produce, then you will have, if you complain and do not assist in the cultivation of bread then no dough you shall have. Think on this.
